Riversharks open season with impressive victory

  The Motor City Riversharks opened with an 8-6 victory over Hartland in Hartland.  Shane Aigner picked up the win, pitching one inning of scoreless relief.  Kyle Winfrey got the save.
 
  The team was led offensively by Brenden Lacorato, Ryan Boyd and Joe Watson.  Lacorato doubled in a run and Watson had a run-scoring triple.
 
  The Riversharks next play the South Farmington Blues on Sunday at UAW field on Michigan Avenue.

Summer NFL youth flag football registration
 
The City of Plymouth Recreation Department will be accepting Summer NFL Youth Flag Football League registrations (3rd-8th grades) March 1 through April 16 at the recreation office during business hours Monday through Friday, noon to 4:30 p.m.

Stingrays skate by Icecats, 10-1
 
Ian Smith and Conner Williams scored three goals a piece to lead the 2001 Plymouth Stingrays to a 10-1 victory over the Novi Icecats Thursday night at the Redford Ice Areans. Stingrays goalie Brandon Boyd turned away eight shots to post the victory.

  Josh Wiseman (two goals) Graham Sheenan and Brendan Iatrow also scored for the winners. Ryan Fette dished out three assists.

10U Giants outslug Rockies, 10-2
  Bolstered by big offensive nights from Jeremy Armstead (two doubles) and Andy Lentine (2-for-2), the Giants knocked off the Rockies, 10-2, Monday night in a GCYBSA 10U Fall League quarterfinal showdown. Drew Osika earned the mound victory for the Giants, who face the Red Sox in a semifinal game Wednesday at 6 p.m.

10U Red Sox upend Mets, 9-3
 
The Red Sox earned a 9-3 victory over the Mets in a GCYBSA fall league playoff game Monday. Strong pitching by Ryan McAuliffe (two scoreless innings), Ian Wunderlich and Ben Spencer keyed the win. Mitch Clark, Spencer, Wunderlich, McAuliffe and Andrew Clarke all contributed RBI.

  Great defensive plays were turned in by Turner Donlin, Wunderlich, Zach Ziroll and Sam Brusca.

10U Giants hang on to defeat Mets
  The Giants repelled a five run rally by the Mets in the bottom of the final inning to hang on for an 8-6 victory on Wednesday in a GCYBSA Fall League contest.
  Jake Hazel earned the win thanks to strong plate support from Chase Every (2-for-3, two doubles), Nolan Kerwin (3-for-3), Drew Osika (2-for-2) and Garrett Colasinski (2-for-2).
  The victory improved the Giants to 4-1. The Mets slipped to 2-3.
 
10U Red Sox upended Giants
  The Red Sox slipped by the Giants, 9-8, on Monday in a key GCYBSA 10U Fall League clash. Ryan McAuliffe pitched two strong innings for the winners. He was followed on the mound by Sam Brusca and Zach Ziroll.
  In the botot of the fifth, Jacob Aleva  ripped a base hit, Andrew Clarke walked and Gedry Ziroll pounded a double, knocking in a pair of runs to tie the game at 8-all. After Ian Wunderlich was walked, Mitch Clark drove in the game-winning run with a two-out hit.
  In the Red Sox' 4-1 win on Wednesday, Brusca clouted a home run, Wunderlich drilled a triple and McAuliffe pitched two scoreless innings. Mitch Clark and Andrew Clarke also threw well.

9U Canton Cardinals tryouts
 
The final tryout session for the 2010 9U Canton Cardinals travel baseball team will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Park Field No. 1 and 2. Players should arrive 15 minutes early to get organized and start warming up. Players should bring all of their equipment and plenty of water.
  To be eligible, players must be residents of Canton or Plymouth, or attend school in Plymouth or Canton. Players must be 9 years old or young on April 30, 2010.
  Players must pre-register with Alan Zidzik (Travel Baseball Co-Commissioner) by sending an e-mail to l.zidzik@sbcglobal.net or by calling (734) 397-5739.

Nationals outslug Cubs, 11-3
 
The 10U Nationals defeated the Cubs, 11-3, Sept. 9, in a GCYBSA Fall League game. Brett Caldwell pitched two outstanding innings for the winers. Offensively, Davey Farhat paced a balanced attack with three RBI.

10U Giants improve to 3-0
  The 10U Giants defeated the Rays, 15-11, Sept. 9, in a GCYBSA Fall League game. Ryan Boyd knocked in two fourth-inning runs to give the winners a lead they would never relinquish. Boyd picked up the mound winwhile Drew Osika earned the save. Osika also excelled at the plate, ripping two hits with three RBI and three runs.
  Nathanial Blain contributed one hit, three runs and an RBI.

10U Red Sox edge Cardinals
  The 10U Red Sox defeated the Cardinals, 10-7, Sept. 2 in a Greater Canton Youth Baseball & Softball Association Fall League game.
  The victory improved the Red Sox' record to 2-0 in their division.
  Sam Brusca, Ryan McAuliffe and Mitch Clark went 3-for-3 for the Sox. One of Clark's hits was a home run.
  Strong pitching from Brusca, Ben Spencer and McAuliffe limited the Cardinals to just two runs over the first five innings.
  Key defensive plays were made by Guido Constantino, Thomas Harvey and Brusca.

10U Giants blank Tigers
  The 10U giants rolled to an 11-0 victory over the Tigers in a Greater Canton Youth Baseball & Softball Association Fall League game played Sept. 2.
  The victory improved the Giants' record to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in their division. The Tigers slipped to 2-3 and 1-1, respectively.
  Drew Osika earned the mound victory. The hitting stars for the Giants were Jeremy Armstead (double, two runs, three RBI) and Nolan Kerwin, who went 2-for-3.

10U Rockies upend Mets
 
The 10U Rockies defeated the Mets, 11-3, Sept. 2 in a
Greater Canton Youth Baseball & Softball Association Fall League game played at McClumpha Park in Plymouth Township.
  The Rockies received solid pitching from Matt Decker, Tyler Patterson and Zachary Beadle, and clutch hitting from Noah Hayden, who went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI.
