The recipe for success for this year's All Saints varsity volleyball team includes a lot of one ingredient and not a trace of another.

"This team has a lot heart and no big egos," said All Saints head coach Beth Campau, when asked why her team has managed to chisel out a 9-1 record and CYO division championship. "The girls have really come together, they trust each other and they like each other. Their love for the game is important, too.

"They can be down eight points in a game and know they still have a chance to come back and win. They know how to chip away one point at a time."

Campau said the team relies more on its balance than a standout MVP.

"Every player on this team has improved a lot in one way or another this season," she said. "We have girls who never touched a volleyball before who contribute on a regular basis now. They're a fun team to coach."

The team consists of Katharine Rzepecki, Ashley Tatro, Alexis Hurley, Anna Ferraresi, Emily Budlong, Madison Dostine, Emily Gross, Emily Sarnecky and Olivia Fahlman.

The team is coached by Campau and Marge Budlong.
