The Red Sox
captured the GCYBSA 10U Fall League title Wednesday night with an 8-5
victory over the Cubs in a game played at Heritage Park.
The Red Sox scored four runs in the first inning thanks to a Sam
Brusca RBI single and a bases-loaded triple from Zach Ziroll.
The Cubs rallied to take the lead in the third with five runs,
however, key hits from Brusca, Mitch Clark, Turner Donlin, Guido
Costantino, Ben Spencer and Gedry Ziroll produced four runs and a lead
the winners would never relinquish.
Spencer and Brusca closed out the game on the mound for the Red
Sox, shutting the door on the Cubs over the final three innings.
Defensive players who turned in stellar efforts were Costantino,
Zach Ziroll and Ian Wunderlich.
"The season was a total team effort," said coach Pat McAuliffe.
"Every player made key contributions to each of the wins."
