Canton used a
second-half rally to upend Salem, 12-7, in a boys lacrosse match played
Monday night at the PCEP varsity stadium.
The Rocks built a 3-0 lead mid-way through the first quarter
before the Chiefs cut their deficit to 5-4 at the half.
Canton, which improved to 5-4, used several unanswered
second-half goals to earn the five-goal victory.
Senior co-captain Jake Underwood paced the Chiefs' attack,
notching four goals with one assist. Matt Rodgers, Trevor Moore and Tim
Popp added two goals a piece while Riley Hoernschemeyer and Chris White
each tallied one net-finder.
Winning goalie Sean Walsh made 15 saves. On Saturday, Walsh
broke his own school record by registering 26 saves in a 10-7 loss to
Novi.
Salem was led by Nick Gianini, Steve Haburne and Connor Berlin,
each of whom recorded two goals. Dylan Hatcher also scored a goal for
the much-improved Rocks.
Registering assists for Salem were Ryan Blakey, Kurt Driscoll,
Garrett Berg, Berlin and Luke Johnson.
Alex Gravlin made 12 saves for Salem.
