
Salem's "D"
earned an "A" from head coach Amanda Suder Tuesday night against
Northville.
The Rocks opened KLAA Central Division play with an impressive
25-23, 25-23, 25-11 sweep of the Mustangs in the Northville High School
gymnasium.
Salem improved to 8-2-1 overall. The Rocks' regularly scheduled
division opener against South Lyon East last Wednesday was postponed.
"We played really well and are starting to gel as a team," said
Suder. "I was very impressed with our defense tonight and the way we
controlled the match with blocking.
"Overall, it was a great way to start the conference schedule."
Several Rocks excelled in the sweep. Nicole Merget turned in a
solid all-around effort, recording 12 kills, four blocks and eight
digs, While Kerstin Johnson picked up a team-high 19 digs to go along
with five kills and two aces.
Lauren Aschermann had a perfect night serving as well as
notching 12 digs and two aces.
Kerry MacDonald did a brilliant job of engineering the Rocks'
offense, registering 25 assists, four aces, three blocks and nine digs.
Lauren Dworzanin also sparkled with five kills, 10 digs and two aces.
