Miskovic stones Mustangs in 2-0 shutout

  BY ED WRIGHT

Salem senior goal-keeper Sasa Miskovic has a way of making the net behind him seem a lot smaller than it actually is.
The goal must have seemed about the size of a shoe box Tuesday night for members of the Northville soccer team.
Miskovic displayed the skills that earned him All-State honors in 2008, turning away nine Mustang shots -- at least half from point-blank range -- to lead the Rocks to an important 2-0 triumph at Northville.
The victory improved Salem's record to 7-2-2 overall and 2-0 in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association's Central Division. Northville slipped to 2-1 and into a second-place tie with Livonia Stevenson.
"Sasa was the best player on the field tonight, by far," said Salem coach Ed McCarthy. "He made three or four saves with Northville players shooting from within the six-yard box. He made one amazing save in the first half, then we turned around and scored a minute later, so that was a game-changing play."
The Rocks' offensive hero was senior mid-fielder Evan Antich, who scored both of the game's goals -- one in each half.
"Those were two very, very big goals," said McCarthy.
Antich's first net-finder was assisted by Dan Martin. Alex Tramel assisted on the lone second-half goal.
The Rocks host Livonia Stevenson on Thursday in a vital KLAA Central Division battle. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
