in Woodhaven Invitational

Dec. 28, 2009, 8:30 p.m.

Salem coach Bob Brodie retains basketball bragging rights in his hometown of Flat Rock following the Rocks' 51-45 victory over the Rams Monday night in the opening round of the Woodhaven Invitational.

The victory improved the Rocks' record to 2-1. Salem returns to action Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Woodhaven High School against Carlton Airport.

The Rocks, who led by one thin point at the half, were paced by senior center Jake Peterson, who registered 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Salem junior forward Ethan Walsh also excelled, notching 18 points and 13 boards.

Other point scorers for Salem included Tyler Stewart (7 points), Josh Perrin (5), Devonta Riley (2) and Paul Claussen (1).

Flat Rock's leading scorer, Andrew Scarton, was held to 13 points -- five under his average -- thanks to an inspired effort by Riley.
