Tuesday's crucial KLAA South Division dual meet between Plymouth was moved to Wednesday due to heavy rain.

It turns out the move only delayed the inevitable -- a division-reigning peformance by the Wildcats.

Under the guidance of first-year coach Jon Mikosz, Plymouth won its first-ever South Division crown when it won handily over previously unbeaten Livonia Franklin, 83-54, at the PCEP junior varsity track.

The Wildcats got off to a roaring start in the field events, winning all but the discus. The Patriots drew close toward the middle of the meet before the 'Cats ran away with the win by taking first place in six of the final eight events.

The Wildcats' clinching late-meet effort was fueled by sweeps in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Joe Porcari won the mile in 4:34.15 while Matt Neumann took the two-mile in 10:02.6.

Mikosz said one of the keys to the one-sided win was his team's one-two finish in the 400, which was won by Anthony LeMerise, who finish 1.4 seconds ahead of runner-up teammate Pawan Dhaliwal.

Dhaliwal won the high jump with a leap of 5-10 while Grant Senkbeil and Kyle Brindza earned first-place points in the pole vault and shot put, respectively.
