A pair of
sophomores had nights to remember for Plymouth's volleyball team
Tuesday night in the Wildcats' exciting five-game setback to Westland
John Glenn.
Tenth-graders Jessica Scott (12 kills, 100-percent serving, six
blocks) and Lindsey Stemberger (100-percent serving, eight digs)
excelled in the losing cause.
The down-to-the-wire setback dropped Plymouth's record to 17-7-1
overall and 4-3 in the KLAA South Division.
"My two sophomores played great volleyball tonight," said
Plymouth coach Kelly McCausland. "They were both called upon to step it
up and they both responded as leaders and play-makers.
"On the other hand, I am disappointed that there was no more of
that leadership from my upperclassmen. At crucial points we needed our
upperclassmen to pull it through for us and they couldn't. John Glenn
ultimately took advantage of that."
After dropping the first game, 25-17, the 'Cats stormed back to
take games two and three, 25-12 and 26-24, respectively. However, the
Rockets rebounded with 25-13 and 15-13 victories in the final two sets.
Dani Risi was solid for the Wildcats, slamming 15 kills.
