Plymouth's
girls cross country team won Saturday's Autumn Classic in classic
style, out-distancing second-place Grosse Pointe North by 39 points.
Led by Paula Green's third-place showing, the Wildcats compiled
just 39 points. North was second with 76, followed by Farmington Hills
Mercy (78).
"We love this
race because it is a challenging course that we run once a year," said
Plymouth coach Mary Kerwin. "It also has a lot of east-side teams that
we never see, so it's always good to run against new teams.
"We had four girls in the top 10 and seven in the top 20. Any
time you have those kind of numbers, it's a good day."
Along with
Green (who ran a personal-best time), scoring for the Wildcats were
Julie Forster (sixth), Nicole Traitses (seventh), Britta Swanson
(ninth) and Kelly Hahn (14th).
Julie Hahn (14th with a personal-best time) and Tricia Pniewski
(20th) also ran well for the winners.
